“My husband wasn’t going to work, and the reason wasn’t at all what he gave me.”

Samantha decided to have some tea and put the kettle on the stove. There were no customers, why not take a break while there was time?

She cleaned the mats and the interior of the new Ford. How could she get the car so filthy! They say men look after their cars. They’re supposed to keep them spotless. There are exceptions to the rule. Women with dogs come, the car is immaculate. All clean. All that’s left to do is polish and wash the mats. Sometimes they wipe the windows. They’re her regulars. Ashtray empty, seat covers. It’s a pleasure.

Many customers of the car wash often asked Samantha to clean their car. They thanked her with extra tips. And the employees were jealous, entrusting her with the dirtiest cars, which they did not even want to approach. They liked the outside washing better. The main thing is not to work with your hands.

Only Samantha didn’t care. She took big orders, as she needed money. Her husband was at home, he had no work, so she had to work for everyone. Someone has to feed the family, take care of the children. She was tired, but the earnings were constant. Her husband wants to work only in his specialty. After all, he has a higher education. He can’t go to work as a janitor.

He decided to stay at home. Irritated, nervous, always complaining, angry. Doesn’t even smile. She works for him. She buys groceries, cooks, cleans. And her husband can only heat his own food. Nothing else.

Probably, he does not feel guilty that the family is not provided for by him. Samantha has to spin like a hamster on a wheel. So you could say that at work she rests. She stretches out her legs in her room and thinks about her fate.

The guys were mostly smoking on the bench, so she was alone. The most customers were closer to the evening. Not many customers during the day. The bosses come in the afternoon, count the cash register, drink tea. The men fawned with the owner, made an appearance of vigorous activity, mopped the floors. In short, everyone was busy. Samantha was in charge of the accounts.

The boss immediately appointed her senior. He was glad that he had such a responsible employee working for him. She was diligent, her clients appreciated her, she was referred to other people, and word of mouth worked.

Samantha is a valuable employee. She was the reason the director was thinking of expanding. Samantha came up with the idea. You could also wash carpets. Many car washes have such a service. Besides, there’s an empty lot next door. We could clear it out and use it. He’ll bring in gravel, level it, make it look nice.

The warden’s scouted it out. It’ll pay for itself in no time. With Samantha in charge, it’ll all come together. She’ll be able to organize the business. And she’ll attract clients for the right services. Ladies are lining up for her to wash their cars. Why not wash their carpets? Everybody knows how good she is at her job.

She’s got the looks that nature gave her. Beautiful, with wavy hair, neat. Her skin is smooth, well-groomed, her face is neat. Working in a humid environment, she’s done well for herself. She didn’t have time to take care of herself much, though. She should be on television, not washing dirty cars.

While they were discussing business, the boss was admiring the beauty of the employee. She saw his attention, was embarrassed, blushed, but continued to talk.

Samantha was proud of her children. She talked about them with tenderness. They grew up economical. But about her husband she kept silent. He sits at home and doesn’t give a damn. Although the boss offered him a job at his car wash. There’s plenty of work. But that’s not him. He needs a high-paying job. He considers himself a qualified employee. But his wife hid her accounting degree, took a rag in her teeth and washes cars. The children were one and a half years old, even when she was on maternity leave she worked part-time.

They wouldn’t hire her in her profession without experience. But she knew her business well. She did all the paperwork herself. She submitted reports to the IRS. She had calculated all the costs of expanding the business. She had a plan. She could have been an accountant. But her boss wouldn’t let her go.

They paid her a good salary, even gave her a bonus. Anything to keep the woman. Everyone saw how difficult her life was. The boss didn’t like anyone as much as Samantha. His family died many years ago. He’s been living on his own ever since. He doesn’t even date anyone. He runs a business. He used to socialize with his friends. But they’re all family, and he’s bored. So he started looking at Samantha. She was acting unavailable. The fact that the woman is married embarrassed the boss. So he was afraid to court her openly.

But fate had it differently. She helped the man. Samantha twisted her leg, he took her to the hospital, and there stated the crack, put a cast. The man carried Samantha everywhere. He took her home. They began to climb the stairs, and in the apartment found a silent scene: Samantha’s husband in the arms of a neighbor-mistress. They both looked dumbfounded. The boss turned around and walked back, carrying Samantha gently. She was crying.

Don’t get upset, now your girls will come from school and we’ll go to my place. Everything will be fine.
